Pastor: Karon Jenkins Compton

Karon Compton is a local pastor in the United Methodist Church serving Tallapoosa First in
Tallapoosa, Georgia. She was born in Normal, Illinois and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Karon and her husband, Tom, answered their call to ministry together while attending
Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church in Tipp City, Ohio. While attending Ginghamsburg
UMC, she and Tom served at Beardshear UMC as children’s ministers. Upon moving to
Maumee, Ohio, they served Holland UMC as outreach and small groups ministers.

In 1999, they entered into ministry full-time. Tom’s first pastoral appointment was near the
shore of Lake Erie while Karon’s first pastoral appointment was on Kelleys Island in Lake Erie.
After serving in both Ohio conferences, Karon accepted a two point charge in the Holston
Conference in Benton, Tennessee, where she served for three years. Tom and Karon moved to
the North Georgia Conference in 2003. Their first appointments were as senior and associate
pastors at Pierce Memorial and Mann Memorial United Methodist Churches, a two point charge,
in Augusta. In June of 2006, Karon and Tom moved to Eatonton, Georgia where Karon served
another two point charge, Concord and Union Chapel United Methodist Churches, for eleven

God, in His infinite wisdom, sent Karon and Tom to west Georgia in June of 2017. Tom is an
ordained elder serving Old Camp United Methodist Church in Carrollton. The clergy couple
have been married since 1991 and have three children and two grandchildren.

Living a Christ-centered live and serving God wherever and whenever they are called is their
life’s calling. West Georgia is their current mission field and they are excited to see what God
has in store for them.
